One of the most important crops was tobacco dating back to colonial times. There are still numerous farms (albeit not tobacco) in the Nokesville area as well as the Haymarket area west of I-66. As a matter of fact, the Prince William County Fair is the largest in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

For example, a driver will pull up headed for the Pentagon, but needs one more passenger to qualify for HOV-3. The first person in line going to the Pentagon will join the others in the car and away they go. It's free commuting for the slugger and gives the driver availability to HOV lanes on I-95 - win win!!

RAILROAD The Virginia Railway Express WOODBRIDGE STATION with rail service to Springfield, Crystal City and Union Station in Washington, DC is approximately a 20 minute drive from Old Bridge Estates in the morning rush hour. At Springfield you can switch to METRORAIL that gives you access to the entire National Capital Area subway system.

There are not many things more elegantly inviting and soothing than a gas lit carriage house or post lamp. Nowadays, we primarily use attractive flickering incandescent candles. However, I suspect the people who designed the first lamps would be appalled to see ecofriendly light bulbs installed in this light fixture. It doesn't "work" for me.

Manassas is an historic city in central Prince William County, VA. Two major Civil War battles were fought here as the railroad junction was critical to both sides.

The part of the city around the railroad junction is Old Town Manassas. It has been revered for years and is a major attraction for both locals and tourists. Many buildings that are not protected and were of little or no use have been replaced with office buildings - my RE/MAX office is one of them. Yesterday I looked between it and its' bank building neighbor and couldn't help noticing a Victorian that has survived the invasion. There are numerous other residential survivors and many of them have been converted to offices of law firms, accountants, financial planners, etc.

There are shopping centers with stores that serve the normal day-to-day needs within 15 minutes or less of any subdivision in Eastern Prince William County Three subdivisions have two or more shopping centers within the subdivision. They are Lake Ridge, Dale City, Montclair.

One of the most recognizeable signs along I-95 as you pass through Prince William County VA is the gigantic Potomac Mills sign. It is one of the largest discount malls on the Eastern Seaboard and home to more than 200 outlet stores. Some of the more famous names are Nordstrom's and Saks 5th Avenue.

Over the last 10 to 15 years a very large number of malls, restaurants and hotels have sprouted within the vicinity of Potomac Mills.
