If it's convenience you want then Sycamore Ridge is an area you may want to consider. The entrance is on the Prince William Parkway, but the 48 homes are not visible from the Parkway.

Of course, only time will tell, but we enjoy contemplating its' past glories each time we pass by as it is a bit of Americana no longer dominant in Prince William County.

Saratoga Hunt is a community of newer homes located on Minnieville just south Cardinal Drive. The homes were built by Richmond American and are sited on lots ranging from 1/4 acre to 1/2 acre. There are no new homes available in Saratoga Hunt.

Old Hickory Golf Club is the star attraction in River Falls - it is in the center of the subdivision and provides very many golf course lots. Potomac Club is a new community in Eastern Prince William County. The entire community features condominium ownership regardless of the style and type home

There are two important features about Potomac Club. The first is the focus on a 12 million dollar clubhouse. Meeting and entertainment facilities are avaiable for homeowners to reserve for private functions.

For those who prefer rail service the VRE Rippon Station is approximately 15 minutes from Potomac Club with service to L'Enfant Plaza and Union Station.

Just when you think we have exhausted the supply of land in eastern Prince William County along comes Reid's Prospect. If you travel west on the Prince William County you see the project developing - and models are up and ready for viewing and purchase. It will be a mixed use development with over 500 residences, office buildings and retail establishments.

Two residential builders, Ryan Homes and Courtland Homes are doing the residential side of the development. Ryan will offer both town homes and detached homes while Courtland Homes will concentrate on detached homes.

In 1820 Brentsville was the center of Prince William County Virginia. The county built a courthouse and jail there in 1822

The courthouse and jail served 71 years until a new courthouse and jail was built in Manassas in 1893.

At times after it was closed it served as a dormitory for a girl's private school, a private residence and as an office. The building is currently closed awaiting restoration and is the only remaining building in the Brentsville Historic Centre not yet renovated.

Old Bridge Estates is the second largest of the three primary communities along Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge.

• SLUGGING (some erroneously call it hitching a ride which it is) is a result of the need to use HOV lanes on the I-95 as much as possible. Commuters form a line at a designated SLUG STOP in Lake Ridge - it is the VDOT Commuter at the Lake Ridge entrance. For example, a driver will pull up headed for the Pentagon, but needs one more passenger to qualify for HOV-3. The first person in line going to the Pentagon will join the others in the car and away they go. It's free commuting for the slugger and gives the driver availability to HOV lanes on I-95 - win win!!

• SLUGGING (some erroneously call it hitching a ride which it is) is a result of the need to use HOV lanes on the I-95 as much as possible. Commuters form a line at a designated SLUG STOP in Lake Ridge - it is the VDOT Commuter at the Lake Ridge entrance. For example, a driver will pull up headed for the Pentagon, but needs one more passenger to qualify for HOV-3. The first person in line going to the Pentagon will join the others in the car and away they go. It's free commuting for the slugger and gives the driver availability to HOV lanes on I-95 - win win!!

Christ Church in Old Town is the oldest Episcopal church in the City of Alexandria VA.

It was designed by famous 18th century architect John Wren in the colonial Georgian style and completed in 1773 by John Carlyle.

One extremely well known visit was that of President Franklin D.
