It is not at all unusual for people to complain about restrictions placed on them by their homeowner association.  They do much more than collect your homeowner dues.

For example, here in Lake Ridge, it is a violation of our covenants to have trash containers stored in plain view of passersby.  They may be stored alongside a home if they are completely screened by evergreens or an enclosure approved by the Architectural Committee. 

A trash can stored on a porch or carport is a violation.  Citations have been and will continue to be made by LRPRA

Since we are all interested in maintaining the market value and marketability of our property, it just makes sense for us all to "follow the rules.

It worked - we had our first snowfall of the winter in the National Capital Area today and school was closed.  Kids in our community took out sleds, tubes, dishes, plastic sheets and went sledding in the two inches of snow that fell in eastern Prince William County.

Fortunately for them, Lake Ridge is built on hilly terrain.

• Many of them can go out the door and sled in their own yard.
• About the most any of them have to walk is two or three blocks.

Let me be the first to tell you it is one of the things I enjoy about Lake Ridge.  Yes, there are two hills available within one block of our home and I've been known to sled down them occasionally

There are 271 Detached Homes and 503 Town Homes in Rollingwood Village located on both sides of Smoketown Road at Minnieville Road.

Those of us who are familiar with the USMC are aware that every Marine is a combatant - chaplains and medical personnel may wear a USMC uniform, but they are assigned to the Corps by the Navy.

Ducks and geese living near MCB Quantico have a special reason to be concerned.  

The WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT and DUCKS UNLIMITED cooperated to build two wheelchair accesible blinds along the Potomac River and Chopawamsic Creek.  They were dedicated this past weekend.

We all owe our veterans a special debt of gratitude for their service to our country.  As the wife of a former Marine I understand how appreciated  the effots of The Wounded Warrior Project must be by a wounded serviceman regrdless of their service branch.  When you visit the organization's web site you only have to read the following mission statement to have a full understanding of their purpose.

• To raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women,
• To help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and
• To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.

I have inserted a map of Prince William County to show waterfowl where the "no fly" zone is located.  I know both the USMC, The Wounded Warrior Project and Ducks Unlimited want to give waterfoul a fighting chance.  After all, every Marine has qualified with a rifle - those poor birds need all the help they can get.

There are 511 town homes in Lake Side (legally Prince William Commons).  The subdivision has two entrances on the Prince William Parkway between Minnieville and Smoketown Roads.  That all translates as CONVENIENCE.
